Butane Lighter

The Butane Lighter is a rarely seen tool that only appeared on 3 models (CampFlame, SwissFlame and SwissChamp XXLT) of the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife. The butane lighter was first introduced in 2002 and discontinued in 2005. It was never included on knives sold in the US, apparently due to the lack of child-safety features. Care should also be taken during packing to insure against accidental ignition; a hard case is recommended.

The lighter has a standard piezoelectric ignition system for easy and quick ignition. The flame height is adjustable and may need adjusting for changes in atmospheric pressure due to altitude changes. The lighter is designed for operation at altitudes up to 1,500 meters above sea level, and for continuous operation not exceeding 10 minutes.

The lighter is user refillable with standard butane canisters, however only extra clean premium filtered butane fuel should be used to prevent clogging and prolong the life of the lighter and ensure proper and quick ignition. A fuel level window is present to check the fuel reserve.
