Standard Series

A 3D Wenger logo I made The Wenger 85mm Standard is a series of single and dual layer Swiss Army Knives.
The dual layer models add scissors, or the openers layer, to the single blade models.
There are many variations in the series especially for models with only one or two layers. This is because most of the tool combinations are offered with, or without, toothpick / tweezers / keyrings, and with a choice of nailfile or small blade.

Discontinued series.

* Model 1.002.009.000 (later format model number) had the same configuration as 1.02.03

** These models were of unknown configurations in earlier versions of this page in SAKWiki, but were added to the table above by analysing information from elsewhere in SAKWiki, and following the theory below!

Standard Series Model Numbering

Wenger model numbering has always been a bit of a mystery, however, on analysing the model codes above the following theory is proposed.
Note this is only a theory from the SAKWiki team and has not been confirmed with Wenger or Wenger catalogues.

The model codes are all in the format 1.ab.cd
All models contain the corkscrew, except model 1.04.03, also the main blade, so these tools are not considered in this theory.

  • a=1 - Opener layer: Cap-lifter, can-opener and the awl
  • b=1 - Single layer model;  b=2 - Adds scissors, unless:  b=4 - Adds scissors and Phillips replaces the CS !
  • c=0 - Nailfile;  c=1 - Small blade;  c=3 - Cap-lifter opposite the main blade
  • d=0 - No KCh or scale tools;  d=1 - KCh only;  d=2 - Tp/Tw only;  d=3 - KCh, Tp and Tw

Scales

Red Cellidor scales.

History

It appears this series was first introduced in the early seventies, but this is not for certain.
Some of these models were later renamed into the more familiar names/models for instance 1.10.01 became the Commander.
